Acne occurs as a result of excessive sebum (oil) production mixing with keratinized (dead) cells in the hair follicle. This creates a microplug or comedone. Acne can be classified in different grades from mild to sevre, (Acne typeI, II, III and IV).
Treatment of Acne ranges from Glycolic or Salicylic Acid to control oil production and preventing the accumulation of keratinized cells that create the microplug at the pore opening.
